Hey Everyone ^_^ It’s been over a year since I updated my journal! I haven’t done much kit building or sculpting this year.   I’m still posting the last few 2013 WIPS to my website. Only Hotaru is up right now. Hopefully I can upload these before 2014 is over.   1.  G-port Hotaru http://pyramidcat.wordpress.com/2014/07/01/g-port-tomoe-hotaru-sailor-moon-garage-kit-%E5%9C%9F%E8%90%A0-%E3%81%BB%E3%81%9F%E3%82%8B-%E3%82%BB%E3%83%BC%E3%83%A9%E3%83%BC%E3%83%A0%E3%83%BC%E3%83%B3%E3%82%AC%E3%83%AC%E3%83%BC%E3%82%B8%E3%82%AD/ 2. But as she's already completed at this point, I'm just going to leave the bow I made instead.  It's nice to know it just didn't go poof lol Here is the painting and assembly WIPs for my next set of kits that I

Hello everyone ^_^ I finished painting my Musashiya Moon and Chibimoon set and they are my last kits that I completed for 2012. I was actually finishing up on Sailor Moon on New Years Eve. But I did not get a chance to take any competed pictures yet and I still have to post the final WIP for these kits as well. I'm working on a few kits at the same time now. 1. Hello, I was wondering if you were still not taking commissions at this time, because I think your work is amazing.
Hello,

Thanks! I'm sorry but no commissions T_T
Hiya!
I'm hoping to learn the ways of this awesome hobby and was just wondering, how do you prime your figures?(I noticed you used gesso and matte medium) Also, do you apply a topcoat to your paint? If so, could you recommend me any particular brands?
Thanks ^_^
Hi,

I apply the gesso with a brush as primer. I'm starting to use Vallejo Surface primer (#74.600) now as well. It works great airbrushed and hand brushed.

For top coat, I used to use Delta Ceramcoat Matte Interior Varnish. I had an older bottle dated 2004 and it seems they changed the formula a little bit and its not quite as matte as it used to be. Also there is an exterior/interior type that is more glossy than just the interior type.

Vallejo also makes a nice matte top coat but its also a hit or miss if the bottle will be truly matte. I've got one really matte bottle, and the other is much more glossy.

Krylon Matte finish is really great but it is a spray and you need a lot of ventilation.  The other ones were brush on.

Lately though I have not been top coating. I feel it's not really necessary unless you have interchangeable parts and will be handling the painted kit a lot.
